Melvyn Tan plays  ludwig van Beethoven’s Broadwood piano

This is past of a short documentary on the restoration of  Ludwig van Beethoven’s beautiful Broadwood piano, which was sent to him from London in 1818 as a gift. Ludwig was very happy with it.

Beethovenhaus in Bonn has an article on this piano and a photograph of it.

Today we call this early nineteenth century piano a “Fortepiano” to distinguish it from pianos made from the 1840s onwards.

Here is a wonderful blog post on Ludwig’s pianos:

Melvyn Tan plays the opus 126 Bagatelles. The sound is emotive, haunting and moving.
