The Village – M. Night Shyamalan, film

The Village – M. Night Shyamalan, film.

I have just finished watching this film on you tube. I was absolutely riveted! Villagers in the late 1800s fear mysterious creatures in the local woods and do not venture into the towns. Insular and fearful, yet with a strong dense of community- what is their secret?

An attempted murder in their once peaceful village threatens their way of life..and reveals that things are not what they seem to be…

The film explores many themes, including  questioning beliefs,  suffering, the longing for innocence and love.

The film score is beautiful, written by James Newton Howard and played by the brilliant violinist Hilary Hahn.
